Ding kiln is one of the six kiln systems in the Song Dynasty. It is a major kiln system that emerged after the white porcelain of Xing Kiln in the Tang Dynasty。The main producing area is in Quyang County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, Jianxi village, wild North Village and East Yanchuan village, West Yanchuan village area, because the area is under the jurisdiction of Dingzhou during the Tang and Song dynasties, so the name Ding kiln。

       Ding kiln was originally a folk kiln, and began to burn porcelain for court use in the middle and late Northern Song Dynasty。Founded in the Tang Dynasty, reached its peak in the Northern Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty, and finally in the Yuan Dynasty, it is famous for producing white porcelain, and burning black glaze, sauce glaze and green glaze porcelain, and the literature calls it "black Ding", "purple Ding" and "green Ding" respectively.。

       Ding kiln came from Xing Kiln, due to historical changes, Ding kiln with regional changes, the use of new porcelain clay and the progress of porcelain making technology。Bian Xianghe believes that the greatest contribution of Ding Kiln is to shine in the history of the development of Chinese ceramics and leave a brilliant page in the history of Chinese ceramics and the history of the development of ceramics in the world。Ding kiln products are mainly white porcelain, but also fire sauce, red, black and other precious varieties, such as black glaze (black ding), purple glaze (purple ding), green glaze (green Ding), red glaze (red Ding), etc., are on the white porcelain body, covered with a layer of high temperature glaze。Yuan Dynasty Liu Qi's "GUI Qian Zhi" said, "Dingzhou porcelain ou, the color of the world white"。 It can be seen that the kiln was not only loved by people at that time, but also had a larger output。When Su Dongpo, a great poet in the Song Dynasty, was in Dingzhou, he used the poem "Dingzhou flower porcelain ruby" to praise the colorful porcelain of Ding kiln。

       Ding kiln is divided into North Ding and South Ding。Before the Northern Song Dynasty, Ding kiln kiln site in the north of Dingzhou, this is the fired goods called Beiding;After the Song Dynasty moved south, part of the workers of Ding kiln went to Jingdezhen and part to Jizhou, which was called South Ding。In Jingdezhen production of enamel color like powder, also known as powder。

     Ding kiln production scale is large, variety。Most of them are bowls, plates, bottles, dishes, boxes and pillows, and also produce pure bottles and conch and other Buddha offerings, but the number is very small, mainly as tributes into the court。"Dingzhou white porcelain child Pillow" collected by the Palace Museum is one of the representative porcelain of Ding Kiln。
